It looks like the Popeye statue pictured above in front of the Wynn Theater is being moved again after being at least a couple of places around the Wynn properties in Las Vegas; This time though its moved much further to the East Coast to have it in place for the grand opening of the $2.6 billion Encore Boston Harbor in time for its opening later this month.
The statue itself was purchased at an art auction by Steve Wynn for $28 million and was created by artist Jeff Koon. The statue is really cool and, the question is how do you move a $28 million statue across country, i guess the answer is very carefully.
It looks like virtual reality is coming to the Strip because real life in Las Vegas isn’t enough I guess. The new attraction would be at the Linq Promenade as Caesar’s Entertainment has filed plans for a 33 foot tall dome on the third floor deck that would have the virtual reality experience inside.
Looking at the filing with Clark County the details are vague which is often the case with these projects as the final project might change from the original proposal. What we know so far is the dome will be approximately 2,000 square foot with about 60 theater style seats to watch a cinematic production of about ten minutes. The dome would also have LEDs around the outside which most likely would be used for advertisements and information. These projects often don’t proceed because of often funding issues but as Caesar’s Entertainment is going this there is a good chance it will happen.
The Fear The Walking Dead attraction based on the long running AMC post apocalyptic zombie survival show has closed its location on Fremont Street in Downtown, Las Vegas. The attraction opened in August of 2017 and for the $30 entrance fee the attraction was a mix of many things including having a escape room, maze and interactive video game as well as part haunted house to scare you.
The attraction would usually take about 20 minutes to go through and maybe the lack of peoples knowledge to what the attraction was didn’t help it; From the outside the storefront looked small even though the attraction inside was much larger i heard many people comment outside it was $30 for just a dark maze where someone one jumps out at you, no word yet about what will become of the space.
Lady Gaga’s hit 2009 song “Bad Romance” has been added to the Bellagio Fountain Show so it will now be included in the song rotation. It takes several months to add a new song to the show to sync it to the dancing waters and lighting but with Lady Gags’s huge following i’m sure it will be popular. The song was added one day after Lady Gaga won an Academy Award for best original song in her movie “A Star Is Born. The last song added to the Bellagio Fountain Show if you are interested was “Believe” by Cher over a year ago.
In my continuing coverage of Christmas and holiday events in Las Vegas next up is an event that is great to visit but also by Opportunity Village a great local Las Vegas charity. The event is called ‘The Magical Forest at Opportunity Village‘ and opens Saturday and runs through December 31st and features a winter village full of sparkling Christmas lights surrounded by a forest of trees.
Apart from the village to explore and take pictures is nightly entertainment, holiday food and drinks as well as of course pictures with Santa. Attractions at the Magical Forest for you to check out include the forest express passenger train, Cheyenne’s enchanted carousel, avalanche slide, the blizzard mini coaster and, Rod’s mini golf,

The first permanent zip lines are coming to the Strip and we now have an opening date of November 9th. The location is at the Linq promenade and riders will launch from the 114 foot tower and then zip down the length of the promenade and ending up at the base of the High Roller
Ferris Observation Wheel.
The length of the zip line is approximately 1,000 feet and during the ride you will get speeds up to 35 miles per hour, this really isn’t my thing but i’m sure it will be really popular especially because of its location on center Strip. If you are interested in taking a ride, tickets for Fly Linq Zipline are $25 daytime and $30 after dark for seated riders and if you want to fly Superman style then tickets will range from $35 to $45. The Fly Linq Zipline has said they plan to be open daily twenty fours hours a day but i don’t see that lasting and i would check with them once they open for times.

The pool at the Golden Nugget always draws a big crowd and one of the pools unique features is the 200,000 gallon shark tank through which you can take a water slide to the pool.
The Golden Nugget does offer behind the scenes tours of the shark tank aquarium hosted by one of the staff marine biologists. As part of the tour you will learn about the workings of the tank and its various marine life; You will also witness feeding time for the sharks and learn about all the different species on show.
Before the tour is over you will also receive a souvenir shark tooth, if you are interested in taking the tour it happens Wednesday and Sundays at 1:30 pm. The price per person is $50 which is not inexpensive but you could lose that in less time in the casino and, it gives you a break from the normal Las Vegas activities.

On my last trip to Las Vegas a tourist by the SLS asked me where the stars of celebrities were in the pavement and, i didn’t really have a great answer for her but i remember some in various places on center Strip but no one location. First of all if you are not familiar with what is officially called “The Las Vegas Walk Of Stars” it is similar to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and, in this case the cement stars in the sidewalk honor Las Vegas entertainment people.
The cement stars were removed in several places on the Strip during construction, but good news as it looks like the stars will have a new home as they are moving to the Linq Promenade in a location near the High Roller observation wheel. The new home will be a lot better for the “Las Vegas Walk Of Stars” because with the previous home being on the Strip it was hard to see the stars without blocking the heavy foot traffic on the,, so a new place where people can look and take pictures will be a big plus.
Yes there are still many free attractions in Las Vegas even though everything else has gotten more expensive in recent times. One such free attraction is the Silverton Aquarium which is located at the mountain chalet themed Silverton Hotel & Casino near the South Strip. If you plan on visiting the Silverton and the aquarium i would suggest if you don’t have a car to take a taxi or Uber to the property as its about 4 1/2 miles south of the Mandalay Bay.
The aquarium is a huge 117,000 gallon glass tank filled with tropical fish and is located in the lobby right next to the Bass Pro Shop. The aquarium has three species each of sharks and stingrays as well as the thousands of tropical fish on display. Every day they have interactive feeding sessions where the staff biologist answers guests questions during the feeding show.
The attraction also features Mermaids swimming with the fish with free shows on Thursday through Sunday with them starting at noon every day except Sunday where shows start at 10:30 am.
While you are checking out the aquarium you might also want to check out the entrance from the resort to the Bass Pro Shop which is beautiful in its own right. The display includes an 18,000 gallon water feature modeled after Nevada’s Red Rock Canyon. The rock formations are filled with huge Koi fish as well as a flowing river with other wildlife such as turtles, ducks and sturgeon fish, three other smaller aquariums are located inside the Bass Pro Shop.
These attractions are not ones you are going to spend hours at but they are a nice break from action and crowds on the Strip.
The Mob Museum in Downtown Las Vegas and the National Atomic Testing Museum over near UNLV are both worthy of a visit on your next trip to Las Vegas and the two have announced a new discount deal if you visit both attractions. The deal is if you show a receipt from one of the attractions at the other attraction you get 25 percent off the second attraction it doesn’t matter which one you go to first. The better deal option would be visiting the Atomic Testing Museum first as entrance there is $22 with the same entrance fee at the Mob Museum being $26.95 so you would save more by visiting in that order.
Both the above attractions offer a discounted entrance for Nevada residents with state id with a $16.95 rate at the Mob Museum and $18 for the National Atomic Testing Museum so use your id to save some money at these two great attractions.
