Elvis Is Leaving The Building

A Cirque du Soleil show is due to close next year and no its not the creepy 'Criss Angel Believe' show at the "Luxor." There are reports that Cirque has been asked by MGM to replace their struggling 'Viva Elvis' show at "Aria" with a new production after next year. The show at City Center's "Aria" resort has struggled since openning although after a retool seemed to do better but there was still reports of half empty theaters. The question for the long term did the 'Viva Elvis' show because of lack interest in the show or subject or is there a bigger problem with the "Aria" resort being so far back from the strip that people forget it when thinking about entertainment choices.

Luxor Photography Signs Down For Moment

Last week when i visited Luxor the previous signs to stop taking pictures and, the security guard to enforce the rule were gone. Last thing i heard was the hotel planned to put them back up again as soon as the new sign-age arrives so i guess we will have to wait and see what happens. In the mean time snap your photos of the cool Egypt statues while you can. Here is the text from the original sign-age and no i don't have a photo as they security guard wouldn't even let me take a picture of the sign.

"In order to ensure the safety and privacy of our guests videotaping and photography of any sort is strictly prohibited within the public areas of Luxor Hotel and Casino. Thank You."

"Luxors" New Photography Policy

The rule in Las Vegas casino's for years was that you weren't allowed to take pictures for fears that someone could be blackmailed or embarrassed if they were pictured gambling. As casino's as well as lotteries have spread nationwide the stigma of gambling has lessened and, with that the casinos relaxed their rules on taking pictures inside casino's. Many Las Vegas casinos have elaborate lobby areas that people want to take pictures of and pose in which acts as promotion for the casino's. In the last couple of weeks Luxor has put back up signs which say for the privacy of guests no photos are allowed anywhere in the public areas of the casino. Now they have stationed a security guard in the lobby who's only job seems to be to tell people they cannot take pictures. I haven't seen this happen in other MGM properties in Las Vegas yet and don't know if is a corporate decision or just Luxor management but its a shame that now people cannot share Las Vegas pictures of them posing in the Luxor lobby. I don't know if this is really a privacy issue for the casino customers or there is security of some other reason why but its a shame this policy was enacted and i hope it doesn't spread to other MGM or even Las Vegas properties.
