Miss USA At “Planet Hollywood”

This weekend the Miss USA pageant is broadcasting live from “Planet Hollywood” on Sunday night when Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella will crowd the new Queen. The contestants from all fifty states and the District of Columbia will be judged in three categories of swimsuit, evening gown and the always interesting interview segment. If you in Las Vegas this weekend and want to check out the show live tickets are being sold you will just have to contact the “Planet Hollywood” box office for more information on availability; The tickets are $20 for the 11am dress rehearsal or $75 to $150 for the actual 6pm live television event.

Earl Of Sandwich Coming To The "Palms"

For months in Las Vegas it has been rumored that a second location of the popular 'Earl Of Sandwich' was being added in Las Vegas to add to its existing location at "Planet Hollywood." The rumor became certain a couple of months back when i saw a banner at the "Palms" announcing the new location there at their food court. Even though the planned restaurant hasn't been added to their website it looks like soon Las Vegas visitors will have a second place to eat the tasty and fairly priced sandwiches. Rockhouse Closed To Make Way For Linq

The bar best known for girls dancing Strip side and shooting water cannons at the crowd 'Rockhouse' has closed to make way for the Linq project. Every week the bar which was located Strip side in the front of the "Imperial Palace" would have a going out of business event and then reopen the next day but this time its closed for good. There have been rumors that the bar would move to a new location such as at the Miracle Mile Shops at "Planet Hollywood" or even the "Venetian" of all places but these seem just rumors. The rumors about 'Rockhouse' moving to "Planet Hollywood" may have started because PBR bar has the same owners and some of 'Rockhouse' employees may end up there. Will the “Rockhouse’ name return as part of Linq or somewhere else, anything is possible but it doesn’t look like it in the near future.

Playboy Club To Return?

Recently it was announced that the Playboy Club at the "Palms"is closing and the question was then would it be reopening at some point in a different location? Well it looks like we may have an answer in this tweet on twitter from Hugh Hefner 'The Vegas Playboy Club is closing with the change in the ownership of the Palms, a new Vegas location will be announced shortly.' Who knows if a new club will actually open but a new Playboy Club at "Planet Hollywood" were Mr Hefners ex Holly Madison works or at the "Hard Rock" would seem to make the most sense but other places such as the "Rio" or even "Red Rock" could be good places for a new club. Once the Playboy Club closes at the "Palms" im sure the huge Playboy logo on the side of the building will have to be removed but will they have to rename the Playboy suite at the property.

Total Rewards All Night Pass

Following up on Caesar’s ‘Buffet of Buffets’ twenty four hour food pass is their version for clubs called “All Night Pass’ which grants you access to seven clubs for one flat fee. The Caesar’s clubs that you can gain access to are Pure (Caesars Palace), Chateau (Paris), Gallery and Pussycat Dolls (Planet Hollywood), Crown and Voodoo (Rio), as well as Carnaval Court at “Harrah’s.” The pass costs $44.99 per night for Total Rewards members which is free to join or $49.99 for non-members and is available Thursday to Sunday. Each night pass starts at 8pm and is valid until 8am the next morning when I guess you go back to your room to pass out. For Total Rewards members they just add the pass to your card and if you are not a member you get a wrist band to wear. At each club you stand in a special line which will help you gain quicker entrance although all dress codes still apply and if you are drunk they won’t let you in. Here at Las Vegas Inside Out were not big club goers but if you are it’s a good deal but you might want to plan out the clubs you’re going to in advance.

“Hooters” To Be Sold At Auction

With the current economic climate it’s not a surprise that some resorts are in trouble and the fact the “Hooters” hotel and casino is one of them isn’t really a surprise. “Hooters” is due to be sold at auction by February of next year or sooner as the property has struggled under its debt load which has been reported to have been between $80-$180 million. Whatever the debt is this property has had several issues since it was remodeled from the “San Remo” and renamed the “Hooters” property; The biggest problem in our opinion is the name because when couples visit Las Vegas the ladies have a big say often the deciding say in where the couple is staying. For a husband or boyfriend to ask his partner why we don’t stay at “Hooters” I don’t think it happens a lot. So the property could try to attract single men but it seems if they are looking to party they would think of resorts such as “Planet Hollywood,” “Palms,” or even the “Rio” before staying here. The other problem is the location it’s close to the Strip but not close enough it also hasn’t giving a reason for people to make the trek to the property and road construction out front of the property in the last year of so hasn’t helped. Other near strip properties such as “Terribles” or “Palace Station” appeal to the local market and even small places such as “Ellis Island” have become known as a place to get good inexpensive food, the “Hooters” property hasn’t really found its place in the market. After the auction and maybe with a name change and a link to a hotel group that could funnel people here with their reservation system this property could come back I guess we will have to wait and see.

Comedy Event For Halloween Cancelled

Planet Hollywood SignHalloween events in Las Vegas usually mean concerts or Halloween parties but this year "Planet Hollywood"s was going to try something different with a comedy event. The event called 'The Laff Mob Halloween Comedy Fest" and was scheduled for one night only on Friday 28th October. The event was to be being hosted by Ron Artest and stars comedians Red Grant, Mark Viera, Alex Scott as well as Maronzio Vance. But now the the event has been cancelled according to the Ticketmaster website with refunds being issued. I don't know if the event was cancelled beause of poor ticket sales or another reason but its a shame that a event different than most on Halloween weekend has been cancelled. 

Boxing Great Coming To Miracle Mile Shops

Boxing legend Smokin Joe Frazier is heading to Memorabilia International at the Miracle Mile Shops next to "Planet Hollywood" on the strip. The meet and greet starts today and runs through Wednesday 9th June and happens between 1-4pm daily.

Harley Davidson Cafe Still Going Strong

When the Harley Davidson Cafe opened ten years ago there was a trend towards themed restaurants with most most of them not lasting. The food for most of these was overpriced and only okay so most of these places didn't last because once people had been once they didn't go back. In a city like Las Vegas there are so many great places to eat so to survive the food has to be good. The food at the Harley Davidson Cafe is pretty good American Food with a decent breakfast menu and worth a stop if you want to visit a theme restaurant in town. The Harley Davidson Cafe aso has a wedding chapel called 'The Chopper Chapel' as well as a retail shop to get Harley merchandise the location is very easy to find its between "Planet Hollywood" and the "MGM" on the strip.

Holly Madison For Mayor

Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman's term is drawing to a close and there have been many rumors about Holly Madison running for mayor. If you don't know who Holly is she is the former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner who has appeared many times in Playboy and was one of the three original girls on the E show "Girls Next Door." Holly at the moment is the star of Peepshow a sexy revue show at Planet Hollywood where she just signed a contract extension. When Holly came to star in the show she didn't just do the show and retreat to her gated house she became part of the Las Vegas community doing community events and showing up all over town. Holly seems to love her new adopted town and has become a cheerleader for the city which is part of what the job of Las Vegas mayor is. Some people may question if someone that has appeared nude in a magazine should be mayor but this is Las Vegas not some small town somewhere and if she runs i think she would get elected. The question is with her Peepshow and other appearances would she really run for mayor because of the demands on her time, i myself hope she does.
