MGM Resorts has announced that Carnegie Deli at the Mirage will close in February next year. Like the original New York deli which closed in 2016 the Las Vegas location was known for their stacked up huge corned beef and pastrami sandwiches. The restaurant also serves other traditional deli items such as lox and bagels, matzo ball soup and chopped liver.
At one time there were several deli’s on the Strip with New York roots but with the closure of Carnegie Deli there will be one. MGM Resorts said the deli will be replaced by a new fast casual restaurant in the Spring.
I do like the Carnegie Deli and, hopefully i will be able to visit one more time before it closes. I love the thinly sliced pastrami sandwiches pilled high but on the hot days in Las Vegas i can see it might not be for everyone.
Back in 2005 i wrote a short article about the opening of the Carnegie Deli click the link below to check it out.
