Between today and Wednesday an estimated 323,00 people are expected to visit Las Vegas for Independence Day with about 200,000 of them expected to drive in to Las Vegas. If you plan to drive to Las Vegas for the holiday add extra time as the traffic on Interstates will be heavy and, the police will be out in large numbers especially looking for drunk drivers. Traffic at Mc Carran International Airport is going to be heavy as 765,000 travelers fly in or out of the airport over the weekend so expect longer lines as well as wait times at security. If you don’t have a place to stay yet I would secure one before you leave as over 95 percent of the rooms are expected to be sold out this weekend. If you cannot find a place to stay at the big resorts or Downtown or at a price that works for you I would check off Strip locations, motels or using an app such as Air Bnb. Moving around town will be difficult with the big crowds so if you have dinner reservations, show tickets etc. I would plan to spend time around the event several hours before; This will cut down on the stress of trying to get to the event right before with heavy traffic and drunk revelers slowing your progress.
Buses: on July 4th, the will be operating on a Saturday schedule which might be a good option as taxi and Uber and Lyft will be experiencing heavy traffic.
