The West Hall expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center is just about complete but without conventions it’s a bit of an anti climax. The $2 billion extension which is adding 1.4 million square feet of space to the Las Vegas Convention Center is getting finished up before being handed over to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The plan originally was to have the extension open for next months Consumer Electronics Show which has been canceled like all conventions scheduled soon because of the current pandemic situation.
The new Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall took a little over two years to complete and, means the Convention Center now has a Strip entrance. The added space will be needed eventually and, helps the Convention Center compete with other cities such as Los Angeles, Anaheim and Orlando for the big conventions.
