The Fontainebleau if your not familiar is a huge resort hotel on the North end of the Strip near Circus Circus that was never finished with the shell of the hotel nearly finished and has sat as a big blue window covered eyesore since. Work is now under way to complete the resort with a planned 2020 opening around about the same time as the nearby Asian themed Resort World Las Vegas huge hotel and casino. Because the Fontainebleau never opened under that name and sat for years vacant with that name we were expecting the new owners would rebrand the resort with a new name for the opening and they have it will be called The Drew. I’m not sure what i think about the new name i guess The Bob or The Fred were taken but The Drew does sound like a luxury hotel so i guess it works
So far the amenities announced for the The Drew when it opens includes a casino and clubs of course plus over 20 places to eat as well aS 500,000 square feet of convention space which makes sense as the properties location near the convention center which is also having a major expansion. The new hotel will have 4,000 hotel rooms which will be managed by JW Marriott which hasn’t had a presence on the Strip before.
