Brightline the company that is getting ready to build a high speed train service between the Los Angeles area and Las Vegas is already talking about adding extensions to the planned service.

The $5 billion high speed rail line is looking to add extensions that would tie it in to the existing commuter rail networks in Los Angeles.

The commuter trains in Los Angeles and six Southern California counties are run by Metrolink. I have used the Metrolink train service myself and it’s a good realizable system.

Brightline and Metrolink have been talking about extending the planed Victorville end of the line to link up with Metrolink in Palmdale as well as Rancho Cucamonga. Yes Rancho Cucamonga is a real city and, not just a name Bugs Bunny used to say in the old cartoons.

Victorville is fine if you live in the Inland Empire but is a long drive through Southern California traffic for people in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

By linking with Metrolink it makes it a more viable option with just having to switch trains at Victorville without having to drive to Victorville.

Brightline seems to be trying everything it can to make this service successful and I will try it out once service begins.
