During the National Finals Rodeo is a free exhibit honoring western movie great John Wayne at the South Point. The 2,000 square foot exhibit is called “Spirit of the West” and features never seen before memorabilia including costumes, props, correspondence and photographs.

The ideas take you through John Waynes life from Iowa in 1907 right up to his last film The Shootist a movie about a dying gunfighter. I was a big fan of John Wayne growing up and used to watch the movies with my grandfather. The Shootist is a good movie but a tough one for me to watch as the movie mirrored real life where John Wayne was dying of cancer.

The exhibit at South Point also includes a 1,000 square foot retail space to buy apparel, books, leather goods and other Western accessories.

Daily from 9 am to 6pm through December 14th
