Something that has been discussed for years is changing the name of Mc Carren International Airport (LAS) to something else because of the namesakes comments.

The airport is named after former Nevada Senator Patrick Mc Carren who served as Senator from 1933 until 1954. The Senator created the Civil Aeronautics Act of 1938, that and his longer service for Nevada is most likely why the airport was named after him.

The reason why many in Las Vegas and, even companies like MGM Resorts International have spoken about removing his name because of his racist and, anti Semitic policies.

The paperwork has been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to change the name to long time Nevada Senator Harry Reid who retired in 2016 after 30 years of service.

My whole life i have gotten used to the airport being called MC Carren but without getting political Harry Reid International Airport isn’t the worse sounding name ever.
