The construction on Madison Square Gardens, Sphere project has begun again albeit with a small crew. The construction of the $1.66 billion Sphere slowed down back in April and the new opening date has been pushed back to 2023.
The Sphere dome has a 160,000 square foot wrap around screen on which it plans to have daily programming on once it opens. The huge screen can also be used by the headliner concerts coming to the Sphere.
I wonder how many arenas and concert venues Las Vegas can really support in the future after the current pandemic situation is over.
The unique shape of the building which will draw attention; Plus the huge screen which makes the building more flexible and different could be why the Sphere does well.
We will have to wait and see what happens in 2023 when the North end of the Strip will look vastly different; By 2023 the expanded Las Vegas Convention Center, Resorts World and possibly the Drew will all be open on that end of the Strip which should all help the Sphere.
