A new interactive Zombie themed interactive attraction has opened at the Fremont Street Experience; The new attraction is called Fear The Walking Dead Survival and is part escape room, part maze and haunted house and part interactive video game. The attraction is of course inspired by AMC’s television show The Walking Dead and if you want to check it out tickets run about $30.
Downtown’s Golden Gate Casino will close for a few days in August for an expansion which will nearly double the current casino space. The casino is due to be closed from August 20th to 25th well apart from more casino space the outdoor One Bar will also be extended as well as the addition of a new entry way off the Fremont Street Experience is to be built. The current casino at the Golden Gate is a fun place to play although the smaller space does get crowded at peak times and the extra space will be a plus.
The approval has been given for the eight-story hotel tower addition to the Downtown Grand where the current valet area on the East side is located. This addition the third tower at the property will add another 495 rooms to the current room total bringing the overall resort to 1,124 rooms. The Downtown Grand is a nice property with a nice pool deck area, the problem for the property since it opened has been its location, a block off the Fremont Street Experience. The Downtown Grand has been doing things such as concerts and pool events to get people to walk the mainly empty block between the resort and Fremont Street. The addition of more rooms to the property should get more people staying onsite which will help the casino and restaurants on the property.

The folk at Binion’s who also own the Four Queens have been on somewhat of a building spree of late including the recent open of the remodeled Binion’s Café. Construction has now begun on another bar with seating outside under the Fremont Street Experience canopy just like the Whiskey Licker in the picture above. The new bar is to be called Cowgirl Up Cantina and is being built near the other corner on Fremont Street where sexy blackjack was being dealt (hopefully they keep those tables somewhere because nothing better than getting dealt blackjack by a girl in a Stetson}. The bars under the canopy started as temporary bars that the casinos would wheel out at night and, over the last few years have been replaced with permanent bars with outdoor seating that have become very popular during the nightly concerts and Fremont Street Experience canopy shows.
