The Park the outdoor area between the new Park MGM and the New York New York resorts often has events to draw you to the area and check it out Right now on weekends they are having the “The Fall Brew Celebration” an event that celebrates the art of beer.
This weekends event celebrates Irish beer as well as international beers from around the world that will be available throughout the Park, if you are interested in attending the event runs from noon to 5 pm tomorrow and Saturday.
MGM Resorts had announced that with the opening of the T Mobile Arena that they would start charging for parking at its nearby properties. The properties charging the fees are Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, New York New York and the soon to be rebranded Monte Carlo. The only way to avoid the charge is if you are have a Nevada driving license and are willing to have it scanned. I would expect this soon to become the norm on the Strip as i’m sure other companies are looking at this as another way to increase income. I wonder if Caesars Entertainment will have a campaign against the parking fees then turn around and add them and say the customers requested being charged so they added them, no i’m sure that would never happen. I cannot see off Strip properties rushing to add a parking charge as most of there business is locals who drive to the property and often visit several times in a month instead unlike a tourist.
Comedian Rita Rudner has long been a Las Vegas Strip favorite including a long run at New York New York and a residency more recently at Harrah’s. After a stop in the Phoenix area Rita Rudner returns to Las Vegas with a date on October 16th for a show that’s part of the Comedy Rock series at the Red Rock resort. A second date on October 17th has also been added with prices half the cost of her Strip appearances with tickets priced at $25 and $35 plus the usual fees and taxes so a good deal if you are a fan of her comedy. The Red Rock resort is worth visiting as it’s beautiful but the best way to visit it is by car as it’s located in Summerlin at the edge of the Las Vegas valley on Charleston Boulevard. For more information about the shows contact the Red Rock box office or Ticketmaster to purchase tickets.

On the 17th there is a cover charge beginning at noon on the bridge but this does include a pint of Guinness or a shot of Jameson whiskey to help you get your celebration of Irishness started.
The former Sporting House space at New York New York which was make vacant back in June when the restaurant closed is soon to have two new restaurants open in its place; The new restaurants due to open by years end are ‘Tom’s Urban’ which last week had a job fair for 200 new employees and a New York import the ‘Shake Shack’ which was also hiring last week. The ‘Shake Shack’ is know in New York for its burgers, fries and custard and should fit in well as a more casual place to eat next to MGM’s $100 Strip makeover between NYNY and the Monte Carlo.
The Sporting House bar at New York New York closed down this week with announcement that the 16,000 square foot space will be taken over by two restaurants the Shake Shack and Tom’s Urban by the end of the year most likely in December. The Sporting House space was known to many as the former ESPN Zone which was at the location for many years and was a good place to watch sports with its 130 high definition television, two of which had 16 foot screens. It seems strange for the bar to close down with playoffs going on and the World Cup just starting but Las Vegas is not short of bars to take up the slack.
Yesterday was the grand opening of Hershey’s Chocolate World at New York New York on the Strip. The new 13,000 square foot two story store showcases the various Hershey products and does things like allowing guests to purchase personalized candy wrappers. Yes this new store does sound a lot like the nearby M&M World located near the MGM but if you like chocolate more choice can’t be a bad thing. On display in the Hershey’s Chocolate World is a model of the Empire State Building made of 1,800 chocolate bars as an 800-pound sculpture of the Statue Of Liberty. If you plan on visiting the store its open from 9am to 11pm daily except Fridays and Saturdays when it stays open to midnight.
