A restaurant that seemed to have a lot of promise when it opened a year ago Masso Osteria at the Red Rock Resort has announced a May 31st closure date. The restaurant concept was from celebrity chef Scott Conant and, if you are a fan you still have a little time left to visit.
The restaurant space is going back to the properties owner Station Casinos who have plans for the space with a new restaurant concept that they would manage.
A new sushi restaurant is coming to the Red Rock resort later this month with a January 25th opening scheduled for Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill. The restaurant will have indoor and outdoor dining as well as the traditional twelve seat walnut sushi bar and, outdoor beer garden as well as a roofed cocktail bar with patio seating. The new restaurant is from Blue Ribbon Restaurants a restaurant group founded in 1992 with a single Brassie in SoHo New York.
Today the chain has 20 restaurants including brasseries, fried chicken restaurants, food service at Brooklyn Bowls as well as a beer garden and wine bar and, seven existing sushi restaurants including locations in Los Angeles, New York and South Beach Miami. I don’t always get to visit the Red Rock Resort on my short trips to Las Vegas because of the location but it is one of my favorites and, i will add a visit to the resort as well as Blue Ribbon Sushi as soon as i can.
Station Casinos has opened its two Winter Village holiday themed attractions at its Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock resorts with both free to enter and include holiday things such as ice skating, fire pits as well as other festive fun. The ice skating on real ice is $20 per person age six to adult or $15 for 5 or younger with hours varying though out the holidays so check with the resort for times.
The attraction also includes lounge areas festive food and drinks as well as Saturdays with Santa at both locations and other entertainment so its worth checking out if you are in the area this holiday season.
A restaurant opening that has been getting a lot of buzz recently is Masso a new Italian restaurant from restaurateur and author Scott Conant which is due open Friday 16th at the Red Rock Resort. Masso means boulder in Italian which makes sense as the restaurant is in a resort called Red Rock, the menu includes Italian favorites such as handmade pastas and antipasti with savory wood fired sides. i love Italian food so i will have to add this to my restaurants to visit even though the Red Rock resort is a ways off the Strip i like the property and, this new restaurant just gives me another excuse to visit it.
As Independence Day in the United States draws near Las Vegas resorts will start to be announcing if they plan to have public firework displays on July 4th. Station Casino’s have announced that they will have free firework displays at two of their properties Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. The event is being called “We Love Locals July 4th Fireworks Blast” and both shows will start at 9 pm with show length of about 9 minutes long each. For more information check out the resorts respective websites and we will update information on the July 4th celebrations and fireworks as we get them.
In September 2014, we reported the opening of the Red Rock location of Wieners Circle the Chicago chain known for its char grilled hot dogs and burgers. The location was in the sports book at Red Rock but it is no more as it recently closed. The newly opened replacement is the Gridiron Grill which still has the hot dogs and burgers as well as a basic breakfast menu.
Comedian Rita Rudner has long been a Las Vegas Strip favorite including a long run at New York New York and a residency more recently at Harrah’s. After a stop in the Phoenix area Rita Rudner returns to Las Vegas with a date on October 16th for a show that’s part of the Comedy Rock series at the Red Rock resort. A second date on October 17th has also been added with prices half the cost of her Strip appearances with tickets priced at $25 and $35 plus the usual fees and taxes so a good deal if you are a fan of her comedy. The Red Rock resort is worth visiting as it’s beautiful but the best way to visit it is by car as it’s located in Summerlin at the edge of the Las Vegas valley on Charleston Boulevard. For more information about the shows contact the Red Rock box office or Ticketmaster to purchase tickets.
It had been a while since i checked out a buffet at Station Casino’s which is a chain of resorts across Las Vegas which cater to the locals. I have visited buffets before at Red Rock and Palace Station so as i was in the area the $5.99 breakfast buffet deal for their players club members (also its free to join). I arrived at the 8am opening and was greeted with long lines so i hit the slot floor for a bit and won a nice bonus on a slot machine, thanks for that Sunset Station hopefully i was going to have as much luck with my buffet. After the line died down a bit i waited in the line which wasn’t short but wasn’t as long as before, thankfully the line moved quickly. After i paid i waited for what seemed like forever as people in the line with the higher players club status were let in as i waited, i guess my Total Rewards status won’t help me in a Station property oh well. Eventually i got seated and check out the breakfast buffet which had a good selection for a $5.99 buffet including breakfast buffet standards like make a omelette to order station as well as the usual breakfast staples. A nice server then brought me my drinks an orange juice and a pot of coffee with a plastic mug for the coffee that looked like it was made for a kid so they don’t spill, maybe they have seen me drink before when i haven’t had my morning coffee yet. I always like it when they give you a pot of coffee at a buffet instead of waiting for the server to come around again, the orange juice was freshly out of the can oh well. The food tasted very good and before you say its tough to mess up eggs the former Sahara on the Strip was able too with no problem. One item that was a little unusual was pears on flat bread, yes it was strange but tasted okay but i don’t think places such as the Wynn will be adding this item anytime soon. One final note if you are used to paying $20 or more for breakfast on the Strip with unusual ingredients this buffet might not be for you but if you have a car and or want to save some money this buffet isn’t a bad choice.
We don’t have a picture of the Santa Fe Station so i guess you will have to make do with a picture of the pretty fountain at Red Rock.
The Chicago hot dog restaurant Wieners Circle known for its char grilled hot dogs and burgers opened a location at the Red Rock resort back in June and now has added another location at its sister property Santa Fe Station. The new location is between the poker room and the sports book and is actually one and a half locations because a Wieners Circle stand has also been added to the Santa Fe bowling alley. The hours for the main restaurant are from 11 am to 10 pm Monday to Friday with a 9 am open on the weekends but still the same closing time. The stand at the bowling alley will have different hours and will be open 11 am to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday with a 11 pm close on Friday and Saturday nights. If the Wieners Circle locations do well it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more open at other Station properties around Las Vegas.
Here at Las Vegas Inside Out we are fans of the beautiful off Strip property Red Rock Resort owned by Station Casinos. Its location at the edge of the Valley means most tourists won’t visit the property but if you are driving in to Las Vegas and have time its worth checking out. A upgrade of the property has been announced with a $35 million of 26 of its high end suites as well as a renovation of The Spa At Red Rock. The most visible part of the changes to most will be the new Restaurant Row being created which will add new restaurants to its mix. The addition of new dining options at Red Rock isn’t really a surprise as several restaurants such as Pink’s, LBS and Hachi have closed recently.
