Country legend Willie Nelson has announced that he is canceling his six Las Vegas shows planned for October due to health reasons. The shows were originally planned for October 18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th and the 26th at the Venetian, ticket holders for these shows should contact their place of purchase for a refund. The exact reason for the concerts being canceled was Willie Nelson having breathing problems so hopefully he gets better soon.
Madame Tussauds at the Venetian is a tourist attraction showcasing wax figures of famous people such as former President Barack Obama, Drake, Micheal Jackson, Britney Spears and Rihanna just to name a few.
There have been petitions and on social media for the famous wax museum to add a Aaliyah statue in honor of the famous singer we so tragically lost during a plane crash during take off in the Bahamas.
Madame Tussauds as you see in the video above, plan an August 21st unveiling for the Aaliyah statue which will make her many fans happy. As part of the unveiling 10 lucky fans entering a contest on @AaliyahApp or on Instagram will be on hand for the VIP launch party of the statue.
Recently Sprinkles Cupcakes closed its prime location at the Linq next to the fountain and, now we have news what will replace Sprinkles with news that Minus Five Degrees Icebar with open there in what will be its third location in Las Vegas.
If your not familiar with Minus Five Degrees Ice Experience its where for a cover charge you can enter a bar made completely out of ice including the bar itself and the walls, seats, chandeliers, glasses and the room also includes ice sculptures.
The basic admission charge is $17 for gloves and a parka but there is also an upgrade price for $45 instead for a faux fur coat which also includes one cocktail.
I visited the Mandalay Bay location several years ago and, its a cool experience walking in to basically a big freezer surrounded by ice; The experience was cool no pun intended but i don’t know if I would try it again but as they are adding a third location it seems they are doing well.
If you want to visit one of the existing locations they are at the Mandalay Bay as well as the Canal Shoppes at the Venetian with the new location at the Linq due to open sometime in November.
In good news for guests at the Venetian, the main pool has reopened after being closed for months while it was being remodeled. The make over started last September and, cost millions of dollars but after nine months its ready for the hot Summer season where temperatures often get above 100 degrees in Las Vegas.
Even though it wasn’t a place i visited often some people have missed the restaurant Smith & Wollensky since it closed its Strip side location next to the Showcase Mall near MGM. The restaurant closed after the Showcase Mall sold for a reported $60 million which included the building that Smith & Wollensky was in.
The new location is further down the Strip at the Venetian with a 450 seat restaurant in the former location of Zeffirino Restaurante which closed in May 2017. It will be interesting to see how the restaurant does in a non Strip side location and if it will be as successful.
If you have a sweet tooth then soon you will have another option with the opening of It’ Sugar a candy store with its newest location at the Grand Bazaar Shops In front of Bally’s. The store is scheduled to open next with a huge gum ball machine at the front of the store which itself had a reported budget of $250,00.
It’ Sugar is a nation chain of stores that specializes in huge bags of candy as well as other novelties and gifts including many items related to Stranger Things the Netflix television show.
If you cannot wait the chain also has other locations in Downtown Summerlin, Town Square as well as an existing Strip location at Venetian in the Grand Canal Shops.
The popular Australian performers Human Nature have announced they have signed a new contract for another three years performing their show at Venetian’s Sands Showroom with their show called “Jukebox.” The Aussie quartet is mostly known for their performance of Motown songs but they also do classic pop songs as well as soul and doo-wop during their popular show. Human Nature has been together for thirty years including ten years in Las Vegas and put on a really good show, its always one of the shows i would recommend for a visitor to Las Vegas. One note is a couple of times a year the show is on a break as they return to their native Australia to tour.
Pop, jazz and r&b band Steely Dan has announced a mini residency starting in April at the Venetian Theater. Founding member Donald Fagen fronts the band which gets good reviews as a touring act in a the mini residency which is called “Reelin’ in the Chips 2.” The nine shows are on April 25, 26 and 27 and then in May at 1, 3, 4, 8, 10 and 11 with tickets starting at $142 up to $321 plus all the usual taxes and fees; For more information check with the Venetian Theater box office.
The popular Halal Guys is adding a second location on the Strip at the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian with the menu most likely to be the same as its current location at the Forum Shops at Caesars food court. The restaurant will open in the former location of Kabob Empire and, includes favorites such as baba ghanoush, baklava, hummus, falafel and gyros.
Las Vegas Sands has ended its business relationship with the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group which will mean the closure of the three restaurants at its Las Vegas properties. The three restaurants are Carnevino Italian Steakhouse, B&B Ristorante and Otto Enotoca e Pizzeria at the Venetian and Palazzo resorts with the loss of nearly 300 jobs.
The announcement follows the reports of sexual misconduct surrounding celebrity chef Mario Batali and follows a report on CBS’s “60 Minutes” concerning one alleged victim. Mario Batali is well known to Food Network viewers and was a co host of ABC’s “The Chew” until he left in December when some reports of his alleged behavior had surfaced. The closure date for the restaurants has been announced as July 27th so if you are a fan of any of these restaurants you still have a little time to visit and, so far Las Vegas Sands hasn’t announced replacements for these restaurants.
