Self driving start up company Zoox has announced they are bringing their self driving cars to Las Vegas. This is the second test city for the company the first of which is San Francisco for the Silicon Valley start up.
The company received permission by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles for public testing to begin in 2019. At the moment the company is using Toyota SUV’s for its testing but plans to build its own vehicle without typical controls in the future.
During the yearly Consumer Electronic Show many companies come to Las Vegas to show their self driving cars, but Lyft and Aptiv have been operating fleet of self driving taxis in the city. All these tests usually have a driver behind the wheel just in case but the eventual goal is to have self driving cars with no driver necessary.
